THREE Plymouth schools have been honoured by Chief Inspector of Schools Christine Gilbert at a special ceremony in London. Lipson Community College, Plymstock School and Coombe Dean School were each graded 'outstanding' in their last Ofsted report.
The event was organised by Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, just for the "outstanding" secondary schools from across the country as a celebration of their good work. Steve Baker, Lipson Community College's principal, represented Plymouth and collected the three schools' awards at the ceremony. Christine Gilbert, HM Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills, said: "I wholeheartedly congratulate these providers on their success and hard work in delivering such high standards. Excellence does not happen by chance. These providers have a real drive to inspire, challenge, and support children, young people and adult learners: but there is no reason why everyone can't be outstanding. I hope they will be a source of inspiration to others." |
